For our project this term, Phoebe and I are doing Spinifex Grass.
Our prediction is:
We think that one of the adaptations for spinifex grass is that it has spikes on the end on the grass so it can protect the animals that live inside of it from predators, we also think that because it grows in a circle, it can pass water around and have lots of water compared to other plants.
Today we went to the Melbourne Aquarium, we left at 9:30 and came back at around about 1:30.
Here’s the website for more information:
It helped me understand these 2 sentences -“Living things have structural features and adaptations that help them survive in their environment. The growth + survival of living things are affected by physical conditions of their environment.” – because I saw some adaptations and structural features of some animals that help them survive in the environment they live in, some examples of adaptations are:
-baby penguins camouflage as rocks to survive predators
-Lung Fish have both lungs and gills to survive droughts and floods.
The excursion didn’t really answer any questions I had in my KWLH chat from earlier this year.
I found out that baby penguins have adapted to camouflage as rocks so predators in the wild don’t eat them, crocodiles adapted to stay very still when taking in breaths from the air, use fish to clean their teeth, crocodile’s heart beat is 2 beats per minute, fish in coral reefs have fluro colours to camouflage as coral and show that they are poisonous.
It made me wonder why some sharks eat only one type of fish and if giant fish are able to eat big fish and small fish or if their jaw is designed to only eat big fish and not small fish.
USA is the richest and Korea is the poorest. The different between USA and Korea is $16810. Spain Italy and Greece are almost the same in wealth. This graph is the right kind of graph because you use a bar graph for categorical data and are large amounts and our data it both of those things.
prompt: The Slime Dripped Through…
Goal: To remember punctuation, spelling, capitals. (Italic)
The slime dripped through the small crack in the ceiling. Our house is pretty broken down, some walls even have giant holes in them. We cover them up with paintings.
I hope our cats can’t reach the holes.
I went up to the attic, to see what’s causing the slime to fall through. As the creaky, half-broken floor boards nearly broke under my feet in the attic, I found the part right above my room, where the slime was. I got my torch out and looked behind a couple of things to find my brothers broken slime ball next to the crack. Leaking.
I picked it up and got some wet towels to clean up the mess.
After that, I went and did my day normally. I hope nothing else did the same thing.
