Herald Sun – Hawaii

Pale Blue – Recalls

Sky Blue – Questions

Deep Blue – Insights

Black – Summary

This article was about the recent eruption in Hawaii.

Most of the volcanic activity was around/in the Leilani Estates and Lanipuna Gardens areas and towns.

Kilauea is the most active of the five volcanoes on the island and one of the most active volcanoes in the world. It has been erupting constantly for 35 years.

Many people were allowed to rush home on sunday to get pets and other valuable items.

Why did the person who was filming the video of their/a car getting crushed/consuming run away or not film at all?
How many homes were destroyed and how much land was covered in lava by the end of the eruption?

I understand that being in a place where an active volcano is present is very dangerous and could lead to your home getting destroyed.

100WC – Magical Creature

This amazing creature is found in a special type of oasis’ in the desert, the pink lake.

Many people do not believe it exists due to it be shy and not showing itself to people often.
It’s blue and purple colours help it to blend into the glimmering water, it can even turn it’s colours into many different shades of pink to hide better.
It is able to transform into a tinier version of itself so it can hide away in the smallest of cracks in the rocks.
It’s main predator is the Bulti Fish. It will chase it’s prey into an area where it cannot escape and then eat it.

The old statue legs stood alone in the forest. It has been 100 years after the statue of the nearby town’s god, Dionysus the god of nature, got torn down by a storm. The town was devastated, afraid that the god would send the wort of nature after them. Yet the god was pleased. The town lived in fear as the statue grew vines all around it’s legs.

Little did the town know, Dionysus was growing a new body for himself, to regain what he had lost. After he had done his work, he would use this vessel to talk to the mortals.

Home Book Review

Home (Lams – Laurens x Hamilton Modern College AU Fan-Fiction)

An AU stands for Alternate Universe; it is an alternate version of something that already exists.

Anybody can make an AU; all they have to do is take the original idea (A game, a book or a musical) and change it in minor or huge ways.

The characters in this book are Alexander Hamilton; the new guy at school who is very nervous, anxious and loves literature. Eliza Schyler; the loving, caring, hotheaded younger sister of Angelica and the older sister of Peggy. Angelica Schyler; the sweet, gentle, caring older sister of Eliza and Peggy. Peggy Schyler; the shy, curious, hyperactive young sister of Eliza and Angelica. Maria Reynolds; the bossy, sweet (on the inside!), leader who shows Alexander around the school. Aaron Burr; the jealous, ready to take action, hotheaded friend of Alex and Thomas. George Washington; the bossy, leader, caring teacher at the college. Thomas Jefferson; the mischievous, hotheaded, jerk who hates Alex. John Laurens; the sweet, kind, nervous dorm roommate who must put up with Hamilton writing like he is truly running out of time.

The difference in this AU (and many other Hamilton AUs) is that it is set in a modern college. Lin-manuel Miranda (The person who wrote the musical ‘Hamilton’) and the cast of all the characters mentioned switch places with the people in history. (So instead of Hamilton debating with Thomas, Lin debates with Daveed Diggs)

I believe the audience for this book is mostly teenagers as it mentions sex and has a fair amount of swearing. I also believe that this book fits in with the romance genre, due to it being based around a ship (two people being paired together) and it mentions sex.

I rate this book 4/5 turtles. (John Laurens loves turtles!)

The townsfolk wandered around their small town, not knowing of danger that lied among the edge.

The ocean barely went inside of the town, but many of the townsfolk where terrified, the captain, who managed the lookout, kept on reassuring them that the town was safe.

The river that ran along the edge was getting unexpectedly faster, nobody knew what was going on.

They were all told to stay inside their homes for safety as the captain tried to find the source of what caused the river to move so quickly.

Nobody knew what danger happened that day…

Nobody knew.

BTN ~ Australia Day

Sunset/pale pink ~ QUESTIONS

Sunset/pale orange ~ INSIGHTS

Black ~ SUMMARY

<~+~>

This BTN is about Australia day and why people celebrate it.

Australia day used to be called ‘foundation day,’ it had re-enactments of when the first fleet arrived in Australia. I also found out that in 1988, 15 thousand Aboriginal  people staged a protest about freedom,  justice and hope. The day celebrates the arrival of the first fleet 200 years ago.

Why do some people want to change the date that Australia day is held?

Does the parade that showcases all the culture that makes up Australia showcase the Aboriginal culture in Australia?

After watching this BTN, I understood that many Aboriginal people are upset about Australia day and use it to grieve over the loss of loved ones and have re-enactments of what it was like when the English first came.

Reading Reflection ~ “It came from beneath the sink” By R.L Stine

Pages: 39 -49

The most interesting character is the grool.

I believe that this monster is super interesting, due to it being an unknown creature drawn to bad luck.

In this story, Kat finds a sponge-like thing under the sink. When she goes back to school, she soon found out that it was drawn to bad luck.

At first she didn’t believe this, but the readers know that the Grool is causing all the bad luck that Kat and her family is having.

If you would like to read the story for yourself, you can check it out in the school library, that is, if it hasn’t been borrowed already.

This BTN is about how the Magna Carta came to be and how it affected the government.

During his reign, King John raised the taxes for his barons 11 times when they had a war. I also found out that after King John signed the Magna Carta, he broke most of the promises he made and thus a civil war broke out. Lastly, I found out that the Magna Carta inspired Thomas Jefferson (The 3rd president of the USA) to right the American Declaration of Independence.

I wonder why King John broke so many promises that he made?

I also wonder why he had such a bad personality?

After watching the video, I understood that without the magna carta, government would be very different.

I made a connection to “Hamilton: An American Musical” due to Thomas Jefferson saying:

“Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We fought for these ideals; we shouldn’t settle for less. These are wise words, enterprising men quote ’em. Don’t act surprised, you guys, cuz I wrote ’em”

From the song “Cabinet Battle #1.”
